Professional SEO Service or Do It Yourself SEO?

Pro & DIY SEO Introduction
If you have a website or if you are planning to start one, the question you should be asking yourself is whether to opt for do it yourself SEO or hiring a professional SEO service. There are benefits to both, each has its advantages and disadvantages, so which do you choose, which one is better? That is a hard question and I don’t have a straight answer to it, but let’s go over the pros and cons of the two options and maybe you can decide.
Do it Yourself SEO
Let’s start with do it yourself SEO. I prefer to do my SEO, but I’m already experienced at it, the only time I’m not doing my SEO is when I have too much work, then it pays to hire a professional to do it for you, which is one of the reasons why you might choose a professional SEO service. Well, like I said I mostly do SEO myself and the greatest benefit of it is that I have complete control over every aspect of my website and the off page optimization. So I can either be proud of the work I’ve done or I can bang my head and curse the day I tried to do SEO. You see there is no point in having a good website if nobody sees it, which means you have to promote it, but there is also no use spending time or money promoting a website that no one will find interesting.
Well the reason why most people choose DIY SEO is the fact that you will save money, but you need to have time and you need to know what you are doing. If you start overly aggressive your site may suffer penalties, if you take it too easy you may never get the top rank. Like I said, you need to know what you are doing, SEO basics are necessary, you will learn the rest along the way.
There is a third option, you don’t have to do the SEO yourself nor do you have to hire a professional to do it for you. Find the middle ground, hire an SEO consultant to make an assessment and compose a plan, a course of action that you will follow. So you will be doing the SEO yourself but according to professional’s opinion, that will cost you a bit, but I think it’s worth it if you are not sure what you are doing.
- Practical SEO Principles
According to some experts SEO or search engines optimization is simply a means to an end. Yes, SEO is a way to get your site visible in search engines in this online modern day warfare. But most people realize that SEO couple of years back is...
- High Quality Content, the Most Important Thing in SEO
If you read or heard anything related to SEO you probably heard that content is king. There is a reason why that is so and we will get to it in a bit. From the practical SEO side there are multiple reasons why you need to make high quality content...
- Google, Illuminati and the Cybersheep
We all know the story behind Google; well at least the ones who try to live of it know. The basic idea is we cant do anything without Googles approval or their knowledge. Mess with Google and your earnings will be close to zero. So we have to bow...
Professional SEO Service
Professional SEO services don’t come cheap, that is a fact. You might need a small fortune to hire the SEO experts, but, it may just be worth it. A good SEO company knows how to predict the niche market you are in, by analyzing it they will be able to make a rough estimate of how high they may rank your site, but a good SEO company will never guarantee such a thing. If someone guarantees you a certain rank you should say no thank you.
There are those that will just do the linking, but I never considered those as SEO companies, just wannabes that will get you banned from search engines for spamming. A professional SEO service will do everything from on page to off page optimization including, correction of HTML, design, navigation on your site, internal linking, getting backlinks, press releases, article marketing with writing and directory submission. A professional SEO service will save you time and hardship of doing SEO by yourself, and they will get results.
Again, you have to be careful when choosing an SEO company. We already said that if a company makes promises and guarantees, you should walk away from their offer. Over 90% of the so called SEO companies out there are inexperienced, people working there just want to make quick money so they promise things and go with Black Hat SEO methods to get fast results, they spam and manipulate, which eventually will get you penalized. Black Hat SEO is to be avoided, there are too many SEO services that use it and if you don’t know much about SEO the wrong choice of company may ruin your website.
There are three ways I recognize bad SEO services immediately:
1. Their linking, I ask for some of the sites where they link from, usually I just find link farms that will get you banned.
2. They practice articles spinning, and a bad one at that, so when a company directly says that they do spinning back away. I always check their articles.
3. When checking their articles look for the keyword density, many of these companies still go fro 5% to 8% keyword density which is meaningless, in fact it may only harm you as the content will not be readable.
Professional SEO has its benefits and its flaws; I guess the hardest thing is to find the right company that won’t empty your bank account, which is one more thing to look out for, if the price is too low compared to others you should stay away. Whatever you choose, professional SEO services or do it yourself SEO you need to remember that this is a long term project and a very hard process. In fact it is a learning process for both beginners and experts as SEO always changes and search engines always update their algorithms trying to make our life a living hell. Your best bet to stay in touch with the changes and the news in SEO industry is to join a few SEO forums and keep your eyes open, who knows, you just might learn something.

I am a writer and a blogger like everyone here on HubPages. Mostly I do SEO related articles and blogs but every now and then I write for myself. That is when the time allows me to; I am a very busy man. Well I am a workaholic after all :)

Zarko wonderful Hub! Very informative! Thanks for sharing
I would rather do my own SEO because I want to know the secrets of SEO myself, instead of someone doing it for me..
I also go for the do it yourself SEO, there is not much to it, i mean it is a lot of work and it can get messy, but all those SEO experts that are charging tons of money are just scamming people into believing they are doing something very hard that no one could understand, when in fact it's just a matter of work hours and man power. They do the job more quickly, everything I needed I found for free and I learned, that's it!
once again i find useful info on one of yours hub pages.
Im new to seo so im glad there is someone like you to be willing to take his time and help people like me. I hope soon i will be able to do good seo on my websites.
keep up with good work...
SEO, keywords and HTML are next on my list of learning. I fear that SEO is a moving target and the game will change once I understand the rules.
Great article. I was bidding on a seo job the other day and the person posting the job wanted to be #1 on Google. I placed my bid but couldn't help myself from telling him that if any person gurantees #1 for that keyword, he/she isn't going to be able to supply the correct SEO method for his website. Getting ranked #1 is extremely hard and it takes time. It is also all up to the search engines. Thanks for sharing your article.
Really informative hub. If someone give you a page or article to optimize it and get first page ranking, how do you approach it?(Imagine you are competing for medium competitive keyword)
I'm asking this question to you (would love to know your answer) as well as the person whom I plan to hire as an SEO expert. Usually this reveals the level of his expertise.
hey, i like your diy seo guide, thanks for pool info cheers jane
Hey I wana do SEO for my very good friend's website as a gift for what he has done for me. The problem is i dont know anything about SEO. Where can I find the proper way to do it without spoiling his website or anything else.
Like you said, for people that have money and don't want to leave things to chances they should pick an SEO company or an SEO consultant to take care of their website optimization, but if you don't have the money then grab the books and start reading...
I would personally recommend doing the SEO yourself as you will save a fortune as traditional SEO companies charge £100's of pounds a month.
I've found a great online tool which helped me perfect the finishing touches to my website and also carry out the submissions and backlinking.
http://www.facebook.com/ClickSubmitSEO
They only charge £49.99 every 3 months! And by using the discount code: SEOSAVINGS2012 you can save an additional 30%!
They will carrt out an assesment of the website and give you a detailed report on what the content of the pages should be, which can be easily amended via the content management system, then once corected the submissions and backlinks will be processed.
They believe in doing this every 3 months as if you carry out SEO every month Google could catch on and mark you down for it!
I hope you find Http://www.clicksubmit.co.uk/ useful as I did and that it assists you to achieving amazing results.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the tips regarding seo. I also created a hub about seo a few days ago and I have one questions after reading your hub. Do you really think that ordinary person can successfully make seo for his or her website?
I want to start my own website this year and I'm thinking about finding the right seo company to help me with that. But after reading your hub, seo seems so easy to do actually. How do you think, can I successfully manage seo of a website by myself without any seo company?
I personally believe learning to do seo your self is the way forward, as the dependency on the internet for information will only grow, what I would suggest is learning how to do it though trial and error.
In the beginning, you should the SEO yourself so that you understand what it is all about and what all you need done as part of your SEO campaign. But once you get a hang of it, it is wise to outsource it to a professional service provider. After all, you want your time saved for other important work. However, it is a must to have personal SEO experience so that you know what the professionals are doing so that you don't get ripped off. I have personally spent a lot of money on useless SEO services.

I'm not sure, I do , I try to do, SEO by myself. But I do it for my articles, so there is no HTML and CSS and all that mambo jumbo. Don't get me wrong, I know both, it's just that I don't have a personal website to use it on and I don't think I know so much about SEO to do it for someone else. I guess I would try it myself if I had a website, I like to learn and do thing on my own.
